Before I start this discussion, you need to know where
I am coming from. I am a Christian, Saved by the Grace of our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you are a Christian, Welcome... May the Lord Bless you
and keep you.
If you are not, Welcome... and take from this page what
you can, and I Pray that someday you will come to know the Lord as I do. And you might want to read these pages, The Greatest MLM in History, Why Bad Things Happen, Being Happy, A Dream, I've Seen The Movie, We Have NEVER Been Alone,Trust, Faith, Believe, LOVE and WHY JESUS?
In the New Testament of the Bible, in First Timothy, Chapter 6, verse 10, it says:
"For the love of money is a root of all sorts of evil:"
Notice it doesn't say, Money is the root of all evil, but that the Love of Money is.
And in that one word "Love," we see the problem when it comes to money. When you Love Money more then
anything else, you have Lost more then you can imagine.
Don't get me wrong, Money can be a wonderful thing to have. You need it to pay the bills, to buy the
clothes on your back and the food on your table, as well as paying for the roof over your head. You need it to be able to
do just about anything in the modern world.
Most of us don't live in a cave, don't hunt for our food and make our clothes from the hides of animals and the cotton
we grow. If you are reading this, chances are you need money to be able to pay for the things you have and the things you
want to have.
Where the Problem comes in, is when getting Money, more and more Money, is the sole driving force of your
life. Putting Money ahead of family, friends and God leads to disaster.
If Money is your master, then without even talking about God, you are going down a road that will leave
you alone and desperate. Always searching for true meaning and true happiness. And never having room in your heart for anything
else.
The old saying goes, "Money doesn't buy happiness."
And then the comic adds, "But you can rent it."
And for a while it's true, you can rent it. But how long will it last?
- The quest for more and more Money is what leads to Corporate
Theft and Bankruptcy. All of the Corporate Sandals we have seen, started because of a Love of Money or
the fear of losing it.
- The quest for more and more Money makes you lie, cheat and
steal just to acquire it. When Money becomes your life, you don't care who you hurt or who
you destroy.
- The quest for more and more Money can break up a home and
split families, tearing them apart. How many Marriages have ended because someone couldn't let go of their quest
for Money? Putting their job and their quest for more money ahead of their family. And how many Marriages end because one
of the partners wants more money then the other can provide?
When you put the quest for Money at the head of your life, you lose your life.
"But we need Money to live," you say. And in the modern World, that's true. We need Money to live. But
we don't need to put the acquisition of Money at the front of everything we do.
Money is a tool, nothing more.
If you were stuck on a desert island cold, alone and starving, all the Money in the World wouldn't give you want you
need. In fact, you'd probably burn it to keep warm.
In Luke Chapter 4, Verse 4 it says, "Jesus answered him, saying, It
is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God."
In other words, Money is not everything, God is. Mark Chapter 8, verse 36 says it best, "For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?"
Having Money is not a bad thing, even working hard to earn it isn't, if you don't place Money at the top of your
life.
If you had a choice between seeing the one person in your life you loved the most, one last time before they died or
closing a business deal that would make you a lot of money, which would you choose?
Think about that.
You're never going to see or be able to talk to the one person in your life you love the most, or close a business
deal and get a lot of money, that over time will be gone, spent and used up. Which one, over time, would you regret
the most not doing?
If you think you'd regret not closing the business deal more, then you have a problem seeing what really matters in this
life.
Money is just something you trade for something else, it's not worth your life, your love or your soul.
In Mark again, Chapter 10, Verses, 25 through 26 it says,
"It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter
into the kingdom of God. And they were astonished out of measure, saying among themselves, Who then
can be saved? And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but
not with God: for with God all things are possible."
It is possible to Love God and follow His Teachings and have Money too. Just don't put Money ahead of
God. For you cannot serve both.
And don't put Money ahead of your family either. Love and care for your family, because in the end,
that is all we leave behind us... The Love of those who knew us.
A saying from back in the 1980's goes, "The one with the most toys in the end, wins."
It's funny when you say it, but sorry to say, it's not true. The one with the most Love wins and will always
win over all the toys you or anyone can buy.
In the end, the fancy car and big house will fall to dust. All the toys you buy will break and be thrown away. But those
you Love will carry that Love with them always and pass it on to others.
As you go through your life, look for ways to help others, look for ways to Love others and give them what they
need. Even if you don't make a dime from it. Even if it costs you money to do it. Give of your time and your knowledge,
reach out to those who need help and you shall be helped.
The Richest person in the World is the person who is Loved and respected by all who know them. Not because of
what they have, but because of what they do for others.
We all die, that is the one inescapable fact of life, we are born and we die.
What we do in-between is what makes the difference.
As a Christian who believes Jesus is the Son of God, who
was born, died and rose from the dead so that we might live, and for the forgiveness of sin, I know where I'm going when I
die. And I know that all I leave behind me in this World that truly matters, will be those who I have Helped and those
who I have Loved.
What will
you leave behind?
