Let's go over the importance of follow up.

Now, it doesn't matter what program you are in or whether you are following up with a Lead or following up with the Members in your downline. Following up is what will build your business.

It would be nice if all we had to do was to send people to our program Websites to join and they would and that was all there was to it.

It would be nice if they all saw what we saw when we joined the program and just joined.

But in the real world it doesn't happen that way. People need help understanding the program and the opportunity. So, we need to follow up with them. And they need to get to know us.

That is why We have the Autoresponder. It is one of the best ways if not the best way to follow up with people. You can set up a whole series of messages about the program you are promoting. Giving information and answering questions that you know people will want answers to. And once you set it up, it runs automatically for you. Sending out those messages day after day, week after week, month after month.

I was with one Lead company a few years ago, and the autoresponder that my leads were placed into sent them messages for up to a year. After a while, people started writing me back and asking for more information. And that was good. It would have worked better for me but I was to stupid to call most of them on the phone.

Of course you need a way to get people to want to be in your autoresponder. You can use what some have called a Lead Capture Page. This is a signal page of information about your program and to get more, the lead has to place his or her name and E-mail address in a short form at the bottom of the page. Once they do this, the autoresponder kicks out the first of your messages and everyone after that until they are all done or the lead opts out by using the removal link you should always have on your responder messages.

Another trick is to offer them something for free, just to join your list. I offer my Marketing course.

If you can set up a Lead Capture Page on your own and an autoresponder, all good responders will have a way to generate an HTML code that you can paste on the site to generate the form. You should make sure to ask for the leads "First Name" as well as their "E-mail" address. Why? Because, you want to be able to personalize your messages.

The responder will have a code that places the persons First Name in the message anywhere you want. And that is good.

But if you can't build a Lead Capture Page, then you can always give out the E-mail address of your follow up responder in your ads. You will not be able to personalize the messages, but at least you will have some leads looking at what you have to offer. That is if you can write and ad that people will look at. But that is something for another sermon.

It has been proven time and time again, that following up with Leads in this way, works.

Not everyone will fill in your form. But the ones that do will be interested.

Another way you should be ready to follow up with, is calling your Leads.

I know this is the Internet and we are all supposed to be able to do everything Online, but if you can call your lead, talk with them, get to know them and they get to know you, it will and has paid off.

Some of the lead generating programs out there now, give you the leads phone number, if they do and you can at all afford to call your lead, you will stand a much better chance of landing them.

And you don't have to be a sales person when you call. Just be yourself. Tell them who you are and that they had requested some information on Home Based Businesses Online and that you are following up. You can even joke about how many Businesses there are and how many E-mails we all get about them.

Then just tell them a little about your program and let them ask questions. This approach assumes you know all about the program you are offering. If you don't, then find out.

Ask them what they want from an online business? Listen to their anwers carefully. Then you can offer something to address those needs. Your Program.

You must also follow up with members who have joined with you. 

You can set up an autoresponder for this too. Only this time, you will enter the Members name and E-mail address yourself. You should set up some letters that go out, starting with a Welcome message of introduction and following up with encouragement and helpful links and tips to keep them going.

I have learned that if you just send out that Welcome Letter and tell them to ask you for any help that they need, you will almost never hear from them. So, you must follow up with them and help them whether they ask for it or not. Chances are, they do want and need it, but for some reason they will not ask for it on their own.

So, now we have talked about following up and how important it is to do. If you are not following up with your Members, you can lose them because they feel they have no support.

And if you have no way of following up with Leads, you will lose them for sure.  

Remember this:

If you are not following up, you are following down. Think about that for a while.
